Plan on paper
Worksheets
Three planning sheets for the comparative essay. Each one works on screen or on paper: read it here, or print it and fill it in by hand. Use the print button on each sheet, and choose ‘Save as PDF’ in the print dialogue if you want a copy to keep.
Essay planning sheet
From agreed title to paragraph plan: unpack the question, set a line of argument and map the essay before you draft.
Sheet 2Comparison grid
Carter beside your novel, bridge by bridge, so the connections and contrasts that will carry AO4 are on one page.
Sheet 3Quotation bank builder
A page for collecting short, verified quotations from both texts as you read, cited by story and chapter.
A note on how these are meant to be used
These sheets organise your own thinking; they do not do any of it for you. The NEA rules are strict: the essay you submit must be your own work, and you sign a declaration to that effect. Planning on paper, in your own hand, is one of the best protections you have, because the plan becomes the essay and the essay stays yours.
